Downtown Apartments and Condos

This article will briefly look at what it is like to live in an apartment in Yokosuka City.  For many, living "on the economy", outside of the navy base and away from the ships, is an attractive idea.  It is a great way to experience local customs and culture and to get the feel of "really living in Japan".  The good news, especially for single or unaccompanied personnel, is that there are a large number of high-quality condos and apartments Yokosuka.  Many of them are located in Yokosuka's downtown-harbor district and are only a short walking distance from the main gate of the Navy Base -- which means owning a vehicle is not necessary.  These types of "downtown" apartments are also very convenient because they are near train stations, and lots of shopping & entertainment businesses.  Sizes of the units vary from small one-bedroom studio apartments to more spacious three-bedroom condos.  There are the usual "common sense" rules about apartment/communal living, which need to be followed.  The main point is to fit-in and not become a nuisance to your Japanese neighbors.  Keeping the noise down and properly disposing garbage are two main things to be careful about.  We have previously written articles about apartments and condos in our company's Staff Blog, and a few of them are linked below for your information.  We hope you will enjoy renting and living in a Japanese apartment!  Please contact us if you have questions or concerns.
