A popular family-oriented public event called: "YY Vehicle Festa 2025", will be held in Yokosuka during the last weekend of May.  It will take place in Verny Park and at nearby JR Yokosuka Station, both of which are located a short walking distance north of Yokosuka U.S. Navy Base (CFAY).  The YY Festa is hosted by the Yokosuka City Tourism Association, and Yokosuka City Government, with cooperation from the Yokohama Branch of East Japan Railway Co., Keikyu Corporation, Yokosuka Chamber of Commerce and Industry, HONCHO Sukakko Carnival Executive Committee, and the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force.  Its overall theme is to showcase Yokosuka's unique characteristics through the theme of "vehicles".  Some of the activities which will occur during the event are: (1) Railway displays and souvenir sales at JR Yokosuka Station,

(2) Public viewing and visitation of JMSDF ships berthed at the nearby naval pier, (3) Keikyu Railway merchandise sales,

(4) Vehicle displays [e.g., Keikyu bus, fire engine, ambulance, police car, construction equipment, JMSDF helicopter & harbor patrol boats, etc.], and (5) Food, drinks, and souvenirs -- including train-themed bento box lunches.  There is also an area where kids can ride on a mini train.  YY Festa will be held from 09:30~16:00 on Saturday, 31 May and Sunday, 01 June -- (* It will be cancelled in case of bad weather).  For more information, please click on the link below, which reported on last year's YY Festa.  We hope you will get the chance to go out to Verny Park and experience this unique and enjoyable local festival.　Written by Goodfield
