Verny "Rose Garden" Park is located a short walking distance north of Yokosuka Navy Base (CFAY), adjacent to the COASKA shopping mall.  There are some articles in our company's Staff Blog which contain more details about the area around the park, and they can be read by clicking on the links at the bottom.  Verny Park sometimes serves as the venue for large public events, and an interesting & enjoyable festival called "YY Nori-mono Festa" will be held during the weekend of 08~09 June 2024.  YY Festa has a theme related to various modes of transportation, so there are many related displays/activities and working vehicles placed around the park.  Additionally, there are numerous booths set-up which sell food and drinks -- also band performances.  Of note, the original idea for the festival, which was first held back in 2009, was to commemorate the 120th anniversary of the establishment of the Yokosuka Railway Line and nearby JR Yokosuka Train Station.  One fascinating aspect of the YY Festa comes from the fact it is supported by the Japanese Maritime Self Defense Force (JMSDF).  JMSDF's Yokosuka Regional District Navy Base and large warship piers are located right next to Verny Park, and during the event, they are opened-up for public visitation.  So, if you are interested in going on board for a tour of a JMSDF naval ship, the YY Festa offers the rare chance to do that.  We hope you will have the opportunity to visit YY Festa and enjoy other festivals in the Yokosuka City and Miura Peninsula areas!
