In this article we will take a look at a "Isomaru Suisan", which is a popular "Izakaya" (Japanese-style pub) specializing in sea food.  (Note: For some general information about Izakaya pubs please click on the link below.)  Isomaru Suisan is conveniently located a short walking distance from the Navy Base (CFAY) and is very close to Keikyu Yokosuka Chuo train station in the downtown area.  It is open from 11:00 to 04:00.  The decor is informal, colorful, and rustic -- with the feel of dining in a rural fishing port.  Wooden booth-type seating is available for couples and larger groups.  On the tables are placed small/portable grill stoves, which, similar to "Yakiniku" BBQ restaurants (see link below), allow sea food items to be cooked by customers.  A wide variety of dishes are offered: fish, clams, shrimp, scallops, eel, crab, and squid, etc., as well as salads, chicken nuggets, fried potatoes, pickles, rice cakes, and other non-sea food items.  Obviously, there are also various delicious offerings of raw fish -- sashimi (刺身) and sushi (寿司).  Isomaru Susan's menus can be viewed by clicking on the link at the bottom.  There are also kids' meals and an extensive list of soft & alcoholic drinks.  Ordering is easy by using the laminated paper menu which has pictures, or if you have a smart phone, scan a QR Code (printed on a card at your table) and an English language menu APP will appear on your phone and can be used to order and later on help settle the bill.  There is no parking available nearby, so the best way to go there is via public transportation, taxi, or on foot.  We hope you will have a chance to visit Isomaru Suisan and enjoy both good seafood and the traditional Japanese Izakaya pub atmosphere!
