Construction of New House for U.S. Military-related Customers (Part 2)
It has been a while since my first report. The ongoing new construction project in Tsurugaoka is progressing smoothly toward completion, with sashes, wiring, etc., having been installed in the blink-of-an-eye after the house's framework was raised.
Although the owner lives far away, he came regularly to check the site, and we had a series of meetings each time.
As for the exterior, we expect to see a more stately & impressive appearance when the exterior wall materials are installed and then the scaffolding is removed.
Many building materials selected by the owner
In many cases, the floor plan and IC (interior coordination) are left to the companies involved in the construction, as this will be a residence for rent -- but this time we have adopted many building materials specially requested by the owner. Unusual colored plasterboards and vapor barriers -- I can't disclose the detailed product names -- were all selected as summer condensation countermeasures.
Furthermore, each of the housing appliances and systems, as well as the types of wallpaper, were also carefully selected by the owner.
There are many products that we use for the first time in the house building projects we are involved in, and meetings and site tours are opportunities to learn...!
Every day I realize that there is still so much I don't know
I saw an unfamiliar black cover...
Here is a picture of the hole in the sleeve pipe of the air conditioner. I had never seen this type of black sheet before, so I looked up the sleeve installation again. Usually, a sleeve is inserted into the hole and caulking is applied between the hole and the sleeve to make it airtight. Even so, there is still a risk of rainwater intrusion through gaps, etc., so secondary waterproofing from the inside is necessary. Therefore, this time, we installed a waterproofing sheet on the inside. (The black cover is the waterproof sheet.)
Once the building is completed, of course, the pipe installations it will be out of sight, but it was nice to be able to see inside them with my own eyes before that. There are so many different products in the which are revealed through details.
The construction is now at the stage of near completion. We will continue to document the process as best we can, and we hope you will look forward to our next article.
