節気(SEKKI)・大寒(DAI-KAN)

Japan is a country with a long history, and has some traditions which have been observed since ancient days. One of these is a calendar, originally developed in China, which measures the passage of time based observing the sun and accompanying changes in the natural environment. It was especially used by people who needed to keep track of when to plant crops, and when to harvest them. This calendar is called: 節気 (SEKKI), and has been used in Japan for over 1,500 years. According to SEKKI, the year is divided into 24 sections, with each one reflecting a seasonal change in nature and the weather, etc. For example, we currently are in the SEKKI section which lasts from 20 January to 03 February, and is called: 大寒 (DAI-KAN), which means "Big Cold" -- the chilliest time of the year. More information about SEKKI will be provided in the future, right here on Iino Real Estate's website. Thank you!
